Top-down action roguelike PC game

Deepest Dungeons is a premium action game for PC developed by Unmade Games. It is a top-down roguelike adventure wherein players will delve into a dark dungeon filled with deadly monsters in order to recover stolen treasures that are hidden away in the deepest parts of their hallways and rooms.

Similar to games like Heroes of Hammerwatch II or Sworn, Deepest Dungeons combines action RPG elements with challenging extraction gameplay in an ever-changing world. Players will have to balance returning back home with their loot or risk proceeding further for a chance at bigger rewards and to complete their mission.

Rune extraction

In Deepest Dungeons, you play a young adventurer who answers the call of the king for warriors who will brave dungeons to recover stolen runes by deadly monsters. Armed with nothing but your grit and whatever gear you find along the way, you must overcome all kinds of challenges, fight your way through a maze-like labyrinth, and get back what was taken.

Each run will be unlike the last with procedurally generated floors that are ever-changing. Face a wide variety of enemies, avoid traps, and overcome all kinds of challenges. As you explore deeper, you will need to collect special keys to unlock succeeding areas. Collect gear and items from fallen adventures to boost your power and increase your chances of survival.

Occasionally stumble upon dungeon exits, and you can choose to bring back what you already have to your Stashbox so you can use them in succeeding runs, or push on and risk it all for greater rewards. Everything said, the game still have room for improvement and growth. Despite different weapons, the core combat stays the same. Character progression is also on the simple side of things.

Reaching depths

Despite its name and whole premise, Deepest Dungeons falls a bit short of its aspirations, with simplistic combat and progression. That said, if you just want an action roguelike without much complication, this is still worth checking out. It's going to be a fun ride for short bursts as you try to do better and reach farther than before. Give it a try.
